The Yogi’s Kitchen Recipe Subscription

Welcome to The Yogi’s Kitchen, our online recipe subscription devoted to bringing you delicious vegan fare that is as good for you as it is for the planet!

Fresh out of the Sat Manav Yoga Ashram kitchen in Industry, Maine, this “cookbook” is like no other.

As countless studies have proven, transitioning to a plant-based diet is the most powerful way to protect your body from chronic diseases and the planet from environmental disasters. We empower you to take charge of your own health by advocating a low-fat, whole-foods, plant-based, vegan diet for total mental and physical well-being. However, we take healthy plant-based eating to a whole new level, incorporating the two fundamental yogic principles of sattva and ahimsa into our cooking. These are recipes you won’t find anywhere else!

Sattva is the principle of balance, peace, and purity. Sattvic food is wholesome, clean, and pure; it is as close to humans’ natural, biological diet as possible. Ahimsa is the principle of non-violence, including non-violence towards animals and to our own bodies.

At The Yogi’s Kitchen, we include these two aspects of yogic living into our diet by eating completely plant-based. We replace packaged and refined products with wholesome, living foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. Refined sugars are replaced with whole food alternatives such as coconut sugar, jaggery, and dates.

We use no oil and limited overt fats as they are high in saturated fats, the leading cause of high blood cholesterol. Aggravating spices such as garlic, onions, and chili are replaced with healing spices such as turmeric, coriander, and cumin, and fresh herbs such as ginger, basil, and mint.

We provide you with scrumptious, low-fat vegan recipes, as well as transitional recipes for those adjusting to this diet. By eating this way, you not only have the power to improve your own health and well-being, but also that of our fellow animals, our environment, and the world!

Enjoy!

”My first time of having one of the ashram meals was on a Sunday after yoga.  The most delightful and filling meal was served to us from giant silvery bowls filled with steaming beauteous vegetables, seasoned with wonderful spices and marinated tofu. The giant salads are a feast for both eye and palette, entertaining all of my senses. Oh, my goodness, I knew that I had to come back for more! I am eager to try the recipes myself.”
